Hello Jones Dolphins!
Welcome to Jones Elementary! I feel incredibly fortunate to serve as the principal of this special school and after many years at Jones, I can say with complete honesty that this community continues to be one of the places I am most proud to call home.
At the heart of Jones is a simple belief: every child matters, every child belongs, and every child has the capacity to grow. Our work goes far beyond what students learn from a textbook. We want our students to become curious thinkers, compassionate friends, confident leaders, creative problem-solvers, and resilient learners who believe in themselves and their ability to make a difference. We create opportunities for students to take risks, learn from mistakes, discover their strengths, and develop the skills they need to navigate an ever-changing world.
I believe deeply in the power of a strong school community. The best learning happens when children feel safe, known, challenged, and cared for and when the adults around them work together with a shared commitment to their success. Our teachers and staff bring tremendous expertise, creativity, and heart to their work every day. Our families bring their partnership, ideas, talents, and support. And our students bring the energy, curiosity, and joy that make Jones such a wonderful place to be.
I am especially proud of the culture we continue to build together. Through Leader in Me, STEAM, the arts, strong academic instruction, restorative practices, and our focus on the whole child, we strive to create a school where students are not simply successful learners, but are learning how to lead, contribute, collaborate, and care for others.
I love Jones because of the people. I love seeing students grow from their first days in TK or Kindergarten to the confident fifth graders who walk across our stage at promotion. I love the laughter in the courtyards, the excitement of a new idea, the proud moments after something finally clicks, and the countless small acts of kindness that happen every day. Most of all, I love being part of a community that believes we are better when we work together.
Thank you for trusting us with your children and for being an important part of the Jones community. Whether you are new or have been a Dolphin for many years, I hope you know that you belong here. I look forward to another year of learning, growing, celebrating, and creating wonderful memories together.
With gratitude and Dolphin pride,
Allison Buell
